Otomar Kvěch was born in Prague in 1950.

He composed four grand symphonies, not all for orthodox forces, at least nine string quartets - and a piano quintet.

Second string quartet (1973).

There are three movements:

I. Maestoso (In memoriam)
II. Allegro furioso (Dies irae)
III. Tranquillo molto (Dona eis requiem)

It was performed by the Pražák Quartet:

Václav Remeš (violin)
Vlastimil Holek (violin)
Josef Klusoň (viola)
Josef Pražák (cello)

Sixth string quartet (2006).

It was performed by the Apollon Quartet:

Pavel Kudelásek (violin)
Radek Křižanovský (violin)
Pavel Ciprys (viola)
Pavel Verner (cello)

Seventh string quartet (2002).

There are four movements:

I. Allegro
II. Allegro molto vivo
III. Andante
IV. Finale. Allegro risoluto

The work was performed by the Herold Quartet:

Petr Zdvihal (violin)
Jan Valte (violin)
Karel Untermüller (viola)
David Havelík (cello)

Ninth string quartet (2008).

There are three movements:

I. Maestoso - Allegro, ma non troppo
II. Allegretto zeffiroso - Allegro vivo
III. Molto tranquillo - Moderato

The work was performed by the Prazak Quartet:

Pavel Hůla (violin)
Vlastimil Holek (violin)
Josef Klusoň (viola)
Michal Kaňka (cello)
