Tikhon Khrennikov was born in Yelets in 1913.
Among much else, he left us three grand symphonies: No. 1 in B-flat minor, opus 4 (1935) No. 2 in C minor, opus 9 (1942) No. 3 in A major, opus 22 (1973)
a multitude of operas
and a great many concertos for piano (4), violin (2) and cello (2).
He is also said to have produced three string quartets, but about the first two nothing is known.

And it was performed by the Prokofiev quartet:
