info:  Grad. as a composer in 1933 from the Tallinn Conservatory where he studied with A. Kapp and A. Lemba and later taught there (1942-).
Did advanced work with Kodaly, Weiner and Unger at the Liszt Academy in Budapest. (1938).
Sym No. 1 was written in 1951.
